BreastHealth

Currently the only comprehensive breast health training for health and community workers in Victoria.

It's a 5-hour workshop aimed at those new to the area of breast health and breast cancer, or wanting to update their skills and knowledge about breast cancer prevention and early detection strategies (like the national breast cancer screening program).

It aims to give participants the skills and knowledge required to present breast health education to individuals and groups of women.

Topics include:

  • breast anatomy and changes through the lifecycle
  • common breast changes and problems
  • breast cancer and risk factors (including family history)
  • detecting breast cancer early: update on breast awareness and BreastScreen Victoria will discuss screening mammography
  • working with women: tailoring breast education to suit the audience.

You'll be provided with:

  • a certificate of attendance
  • a training manual
  • a kit of written breast health resources
  • morning tea during the workshop
  • access to a restricted webpage for additional support, resources and advice.
