Prevention & early detection of skin cancer in general practice

This ALM will guide GPs through the epidemiology of skin cancers in Australia, skin cancer prevention, balanced approach to UV and vitamin D awareness and the diagnosis and management of melanoma and the most common non-melanoma skin cancers.

Annotated naked eye and dermoscopic images will guide the participant through a series of case studies on the assessment, diagnosis and management of skin lesions. Information is provided regarding sun exposure and vitamin D, with recommendation for safe exposure. Biopsy techniques are demonstrated and indications for referral to specialists are outlined.

The separate activities may be applicable if you do not want to complete the ALM, and are only interested in 1 or 2 of the topics.

Points: RACGP: 40 Category 1 CPD points, ACRRM: 30 PRPD points, RCNA: 6 CNE points (6 hours)
