Thank you to Clinical Network Executive Committee

Chair of the Clinical Network, A/Prof Jeremy Millar, will be coming to the end of his six year term.  at the end of 2016. The Clinical Network would like to acknowledge the significant achievements, dedication and clinical expertise of A/Prof Jeremy Millar over his chairmanship. 
 
Jeremy has led the program through a period of change and over this time Jeremy has also provided leadership and clinical expertise in other capacities at CCV, including the Victorian Cancer Registry Scientific Advisory Committee, guidance in the Optimal Care Pathways project and as a member of the CCV Board and the Cancer Council Australia Board. Jeremy has been a go-to for advice for a number of staff at CCV. He has led our clinical trials projects and was key to the decision to focus on advocacy work in recent years. 
 
The Clinical Network would also like to thank the below members of the Executive Committee who are also coming to an end of their terms;

  • A/Prof Paul McMurrick - Colorectal Surgeon, Cabrini Medical Centre
  • A/Prof Gary Richardson - Medical Oncologist, Cabrini Medical Centre
  • Miss Orla McNally – Gynaecological Oncologist (Director) – Royal Women’s Hospital
  • A/Prof Farshad Foroudi – Director of the Children’s Cancer Centre – Royal Children’s Hospital
  • Dr Craig Underhill  - Medical Oncologist & Clinical Director, Hume Regional Integrated Cancer Service 

Some of the work our outgoing Executive Committee members have been involved in since 2011 includes;

  • Involvement in our decision to change our name to Clinical Network
  • Strategic planning - providing guidance on our objectives, vision and evolution to focus on project based work spanning multiple tumour streams and specialities such as the Agenda for Cancer Control work 
  • Support for our clinical trials projects - the Victorian Cancer Trials Link and the Cancer Trials Management Scheme 
  • Guidance on policy submissions and advocacy work such as responses to the provision of radiotherapy services and the response to the senate enquiry of the availability of new, innovative and specialist cancer drugs in Australia 
  • Input into competitive grant rounds such as  the Victorian Cancer Agency $1million grant secured for the Additional Funding Intervention Trial 
  • Strengthening relationships with key Department of Health & Human Services contacts
