Artist's Statement

The blue represent the people who have or had cancer, the yellow represent people that know someone who has or had cancer, all the people are linked in one way or another. We all have the energy that we release, when we work as one, we are more powerful. The red is the energy we release when we are one.

Judge's Comment

This outstanding entry has a strong image with clear colours and a powerful story of how we as Aboriginal people are more powerful when we "work as one". I loved the story and the image depicted. This artwork made me feel very privileged to judge this year's Indigenous Cancer Council Awards and to see and hear so many people's stories of courage, hope, loss and grief.
