Help cancer patients take a break

Thursday 18 August, 2016 Holiday break program for cancer patients

Do you have a holiday home and want to make a difference to a family affected by cancer? Our Holiday Break Program offers one-off short getaways, at no cost so people with cancer can relax and unwind with their loved ones. So far this year we have provided 70 breaks, but with 84 people diagnosed with cancer every day in Victoria, we would like to provide more.

Time-out to relax and recharge with his family was exactly what Paul Walsh needed after months of cancer treatment. Thanks to the generosity of a property owner in Inverloch, Paul and his wife Loretta were able to take a much-needed break away with their two children.

"It was really important to have this time together and escape the stress and endless hospital visits. We had an amazing time and would recommend this to anyone going through a cancer experience," said Loretta.

Can you help?
While donated homes are needed across Victoria, we are especially recruiting properties in Ballarat, Echuca, Kyneton, and Ocean Grove.

If you own a property and can donate time to Cancer Council Victoria during off peak seasons, we would love to hear from you. Bookings are usually for 2-4 nights and owners can select the time of year that the property is available for holiday breaks.

Register your property or call 13 11 20 and ask to speak to program manager, Molly Colussa for more details.
