Resource profile: updated Carers Kit

Carers

National Carers Week was held in October to recognise and celebrate the people who care. Those caring for someone with cancer play an important role in that individual’s experience with the illness, however, many carers neglect their own practical and emotional needs. Cancer Council Victoria has just released an updated edition of our resource kit developed especially for carers. The Carers Kit aims to help people look after themselves effectively, so they can do the same for others.

The free kit contains our Caring for someone with cancer booklet, information from Centrelink and Carers Victoria, and an overview of all the information and support services offered by Cancer Council Victoria. We also include a relaxation CD as a guide through a series of simple exercises.

Like all of our information resources, the kit has been reviewed by health professionals and consumer representatives. You can rest assured that the contents are reliable and based on the latest available evidence.

We are here to support carers, and welcome calls to a cancer nurse on 13 11 20 or emails to askanurse@cancervic.org.au.
