Publication profile: Cancer in the School Community

Cancer in the School CommunityCancer Council Victoria has a suite of over 70 booklets, factsheets and DVDs that provides reliable information about different cancers, treatments and support. The content in these resources is regularly reviewed by clinicians and people affected by cancer. Our most recently updated publication is Cancer in the School Community, developed for schools that are supporting students, families or staff affected by a cancer diagnosis. 

This updated version has content relevant for all primary and secondary schools and sections are presented from the perspective of a student, family or staff member. Content areas include the learning impacts of cancer treatment, special provisions for NAPLAN, and outside school hours care. There are also sections on legal obligations, cancer and cultural background, and the particular needs of siblings.
