Cancer Council Victoria has been leading efforts against cancer since 1936 through world leading research, prevention, support and advocacy programs. The Fundraising and Communications Division (FCD) is responsible for ensuring Cancer Council maintains a visible, engaging presence in the community, and to inspire and activate support from the Victorian public. Sitting within the Events unit in FCD, Relay For Life (Relay) is the world's largest fundraising event for cancer, with events raising more than $6 million annually in Victoria alone. Relay is an overnight event in which participants walk or run relay-style at venues throughout Victoria. Relay events are community owned and volunteer led, supported by Cancer Council Relay Coordinators.

About your opportunity

We are seeking a Relay for Life Community Liaison to join the Events Unit. Reporting to the Relay for Life Team Leader, your role is to:

  • Recruit, train and empower community volunteers to lead established Relay for Life fundraising events throughout Victoria;
  • Build strong relationships with your volunteers and provide ongoing support and coaching to maximise volunteer skills, fundraising revenue and deliver Cancer Council's mission at each event;
  • Oversee event campaigns in collaboration with committee leaders to drive community engagement, recruit volunteers and event participants, produce an exciting event experience, achieve income targets and produce post-event reporting and analysis;
  • Collaborate with the team to evaluate events, identify efficiencies and drive continuous improvement and learning opportunities;
  • Provide opportunities for volunteers to engage with Cancer Council Victoria in the fight against cancer.

All about you

We are looking for someone with:

  • A tertiary qualification in Event Management, Marketing or related discipline and/or experience coordinating community events or fundraising initiatives;
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills with a strong focus on customer service;
  • Demonstrated ability to empower, influence, and negotiate with stakeholders as well as build capabilities to deliver exceptional events;
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills including the ability to prioritise and complete tasks in a short time frame.

What we can offer you

This full-time permanent position provides a salary within range $56,400 - $62,420 pa plus superannuation, annual leave loading and the benefits of not-for-profit salary packaging and a meal entertainment card.
