Cancer Council Victoria has been leading efforts against cancer since 1936 through world leading research, prevention, support and advocacy programs. The Fundraising and Communications Division (FCD) is responsible for ensuring that Cancer Council maintains a visible, engaging presence in the community; and to inspire and activate support from the Victorian public. Through the use of a diverse revenue generation program, the work of the division ensures appropriate funds are raised to support the Cancer Council's work, in line with the organisation's mission and values through the delivery of iconic fundraising events such as Daffodil Day, Australia's Biggest Morning Tea and Relay for Life. Within this division, the Brand and Communications Unit is responsible for the management and optimisation of the reputation and public profile of Cancer Council Victoria. This is achieved through strategic and planned use of campaigns, media engagement and PR, corporate events, partnerships and communications.

About your opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Corporate Communications professional to join the Brand and Communications Unit of FCD. Reporting to the Head of Brand and Communications, your role will focus on:

  • The development and dissemination of information to key organisational stakeholders - both internal and external - and the creation of strategically aligned messages and reports;
  • The development, editing and management of copy and content for communications activities across all program areas, and providing advice for best practice;
  • Overseeing the process of copywriting, editing, designing and printing the annual reports and accounts, annual review and AGM publications;
  • The preparation of internal communications around key fundraising campaigns.

All about you

We are looking for someone to hit the ground running, with:

  • Sound experience in developing and implementing internal communications plans
  • High level written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex scientific information into compelling communications for lay audiences
  • Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to form and maintain networks of influence
  • High-level organisation and time-management skills with the ability to prioritise effectively, work well under pressure and adhere to set deadlines
  • Excellent research and problem-solving skills with the ability to respond quickly to issues and fast-developing stories.

What we can offer you

This full-time fixed term position (maternity leave replacement until 2 February 2018) provides a salary within range $66,644 - $74,930 pa plus superannuation, annual leave loading and the benefits of not-for-profit salary packaging and a meal entertainment card. We also offer a flexible and friendly work environment, social and wellbeing activities and a location close to public transport.
