Tobacco control

The VicHealth Centre for Tobacco Control (VCTC) is based at Cancer Council Victoria offices and partly funded by the Victorian Health Promotion Foundation (VicHealth).

It started in 2000, to conduct applied research and policy development in the areas of health economics, law and regulation. This was expected to lead to more effective and equitable tobacco control policies and programs.

With the creation of its Knowledge Building Group in 2004, its aims expanded to include more behavioural research on improving cessation aids and the effects of tobacco control policies. The research output below is divided from 2004 to identify outputs from the VicHealth-funded work and the newly formed Knowledge Buidling group, which has some internal funding, but is otherwise dependent on external grants.
