VCR publications

The Victorian Cancer Registry (VCR) has collected population-based cancer data over many years. It holds a large and valuable research dataset, which plays a vital role in providing cancer information to individuals and organisations.

Our VCR team prides itself on the timely publication of cancer information. We were the first population-based cancer registry to publish 2010 cancer statistics – ahead of other national and international population-based cancer registries.

Publication	Summary
Cancer Survival in Victoria 2012 (1.2mb)	This report is a summary of the latest survival figures for Victorians with cancer in 2006–10. It includes: Tables for all cancers combined for all Victorians, for children under 15 years and for adolescents and young adults aged 15 to 24 years. Separate tables for 35 common cancer types. For each cancer, differences are examined by sex, age at diagnosis, region of residence and a variety of prognostic factors which may influence survival. For the first time, we're also able to present survival by disease stage for selected cancers: tumour thickness for melanoma, TNM stage for breast cancer and Gleason score for prostate cancer. This report updates survival figures previously published in English D, Farrugia H, Thursfield V, Cheng P, Giles G. Cancer in Victoria: Social Context 2010 (1.94mb)	This edition features the social drivers and recent trends for the top 5 most common cancers, plus cervical cancer and all cancers combined. It also includes the most up-to-date information on incidence, mortality, survival, lifetime risk and average age at diagnosis, for each of these cancers.
Childhood Cancer 2010 (975kb)	Describes cancer incidence, mortality and survival in Victorian children under 15 years. Includes statistics for cancer types most common in children and shows trends since 1982, with international comparisons.
Second Primary Cancers in Victoria	This monograph has been produced to describe the risk of developing a second primary invasive cancer after the diagnosis of the first. It presents an analysis for all cancers and for 23 common cancer types, examining second primary cancers detected during a 23-year period following diagnosis of the first cancer.
CanStats digests	Digests of facts and figures. Several issues are published each year including annual cancer incidence and mortality data. Most issues focus on a particular cancer type or topic and include local, national or international statistics on incidence, mortality and survival.
Reportable cancers (200kb)	Document to help hospitals, prescribed health services, pathology services and prescribed registers to identify cancer cases that are reportable to the Victorian Cancer Registry.
